MILL SPRING—The community is invited to join Conserving Carolina for a free lecture entitled “The North American Beaver – Restoration, Biology, and Management” at the Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at Walnut Creek Preserve in Mill Spring. The program will be presented by Colleen Olfenbuttel, a black bear and furbearer biologist for the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, on Saturday, August 17, at 10:30 a.m.
Colleen will discuss the important role, both historically and currently, of beavers in North America and North Carolina. She will also be sharing fascinating facts about beaver biology basics and how North Carolina currently manages beavers.
This lecture is part of Conserving Carolina’s monthly Speaker Series at Walnut Creek Preserve. Pre-registration is required. To register and for more information, visit Conserving Carolina’s website and “calendar” tab, conservingcarolina.org/calendar.
The next program at Walnut Creek Preserve will be held on September 21, when Tom Tribble, past president of the Blue Ridge Audubon Chapter and current at-large director of Blue Ridge Audubon Chapter, will present “Survival By Degrees – The Impact of Climate Change on Birds.”
