Alm earns spot on coaches association’s 1A All-State team

Polk County rising junior Gunnar Alm has been named to the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association 1A All-State team.
Alm, the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference Offensive Player of the Year, hit .408 with seven home runs and 23 RBI. He scored 36 runs and stole 25 bases in helping lead Polk County to the second round of the state 1A playoffs.
Aiden Allred of Chatham Charter was named the 1A Player of the Year, with Mount Airy’s Kamden Hawks named the Pitcher of the Year.
Other Western North Carolina players earned all-state selection included Swain’s Carter Hayes and Hayesville’s Jackson Sellars and Peyton McGaha.
