Cathy once described herself as “a friend that is like gum on your shoe—you can’t get rid of me”.  And she was just that, always there for you in good times and bad, happy and sad times.  She was uncommonly kind and generous.  Many organizations were the recipient of her donations that were almost always “anonymous”.  She did not like the spotlight, preferring to have the “sidekick” role and not the “starring” one.

She loved animals with a passion, from her cats, dogs, and horses to any animal she encountered.  She had an uncanny way of connecting with them.  I am sure it was her gentle spirit they understood.

She had a great sense of humor which she credited to her father.  She especially delighted in telling tales about her father and his special ability to time his hysterically funny remarks at the family dinner table to just when you had a full mouthful of milk and it exploded all over the table as you erupted in laughter. She learned his unique “alfalfa” language and proceeded to tell long tales in this language that left one exhausted due to unrelenting laughter.  Sadly, “alfalfa” passes along with Cathy as no one else has learned the language—possibly because normal mortals can’t speak it with a straight face, and they dissolve into gales of laughter as they try.

Cathy especially loved her “little” brother, nicknamed Bid.  She thought the world of him even though he had the audacity to be born after she had her parents to herself for 8 years. She was so proud of the loving and caring man he had become.

She will be missed by her many friends as she was that friend everyone wishes they had, and we were lucky enough to have found her.

There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
