Sizemore gymnasts compete in Southeastern Regional

Gymnasts from Sizemore Gymnastics Academy in Tryon took their talents to the AAU Southeastern Regional Championships held May 13-14 in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Collins Kerr represented SGA at the AAU Xcel Bronze level. Kendall Medina, Aria Springs, Alia Vorbe and Emma Whitehurst represented SGA at the AAU Xcel Silver level. Genevieve Ard and ScottLynn Whiteside participated at the AAU Xcel Gold level. Sherlyn Trejo and Kylie Whitinger competed at the AAU Xcel Platinum level.

For SGA’s Bronze team, Kerr achieved fifth in her division with 37.075 all-around from her first on floor with 9.675, first on bar with 9.65, second on vault with 9.2 and 8.55 on beam.

For SGA’s Silver team, Medina earned 37.1 all-around from her fourth on vault with 9.55, 9.35 on beam, 9.3 on bars and 8.9 on floor. Springs received 35.775 all-around from her 9.525 on floor, 9.4 on bars, 8.65 on vault and 8.2 on beam. Vorbe earned second place all-around in her division with 38.325 from her first on vault with 9.55, third on floor with 9.7, fourth on bars with 9.525 and fifth on beam with 9.55. Whitehurst achieved 36.5 from her 9.3 on bars, 9.2 on vault, 9.2 on beam and 8.8 on floor.

For SGA’s Gold team, Ard achieved third in her division with 37.5 all-around from her first on vault with 9.7, fourth on bars 9.55, fourth on beam with 9.375 and 8.875 on floor. She also was awarded “Vault Queen” for the highest vault score in her session. whiteside received 36.725 all-around from her third on beam with 9.575, 9.3 on floor, 9.1 on bars and 8.75 on vault.

For Xcel Platinum, Trejo accomplished third all-around in her division with 38.2 all-around from her second on bars with 9.7, second on floor with 9.55, third on beam with 9.475 and fourth on vault with 9.475. Whitinger received 34.275 all-around from her 9.225 on beam, 8.8 on floor, 8.4 on vault and 7.85 on bars.

The gymnasts will next compete in July at the AAU National Championships in Orlando, Fla.
