Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Last year there was a 3.2-acre parcel of land for sale on the southeast side of Round Mountain, marketed as a residential lot suitable for 1 or 2 houses with a wonderful view.

If the lot had been sold for residential use, everyone in the Tryon/Columbus area would see lights on top of the mountain every night for years to come. But, thanks to the lot owner who was willing to sell the land at a reduced rate and funding from the Polk County Community Foundation, Saluda Community Land Trust was able to purchase the lot.

It is now combined with 55 acres of Round Mountain already owned by SCLT. In the near future, SCLT and the owner of the northwest side of the mountain will construct a new trail to the top of the mountain, where we can all enjoy that wonderful view.
