“I am honored to work in Polk County Schools,” Murphy said. “The Board of Education and Mr. Greene have been so supportive and encouraging in the past nine years.

“I have been blessed to serve the students and families in this wonderful community. I have worked with amazing educators throughout this district and I’m excited about being able to support our educators and staff members in this new position. I am very thankful to be part of the Polk County Schools family.”

Murphy has served as Polk County Middle’s principal since 2018, taking on that position after spending three years as principal at Tryon Elementary and a year as the assistant principal at Polk Middle.

After starting his educational career as a teacher and coach, Murphy moved into administration in 2007 as the assistant principal and athletic director at Hendersonville High School. He held that position for four years before spending the next two years as principal at Mills River Elementary School.

Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Trevecca University in Nashville, Tenn. and a master’s in school administration from Gardner-Webb University.

Polk County Schools is proud to announce that Todd Murphy will be moving to the Human Resources Director position,” said Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene. “His many years of outstanding service to students and staff as a building administrator have prepared him well for the challenges of this new role.

“We congratulate Mr. Murphy for being selected and we are confident he will do a great job for Polk County Schools in this important position.”

Greene said Polk County Schools would begin an immediate search to fill the principal’s position at Polk County Middle.
