Tyler Laughter was charged with felony involuntary manslaughter on March 17, after allegedly shooting Petoia by accident on March 10. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 28.

Friends, family and supporters of Talia Petoia attended court that day, wearing pink in Talia’s honor.

Between now and June 28, supporters are planning a memorial event to keep her case in front of the public eye, according to an update on the group’s GoFundMe page.

The March 10 shooting allegedly occurred while Laughter was cleaning a loaded handgun and negligently discharged the firearm. Petoia died later that day at Spartanburg Regional.

The family has hired Steven Lindsay and Mary Ann Hollocker from Lindsay Law, PLLC, after starting a GoFundMe page to help cover legal fees and to hire a private investigator who can provide an independent analysis of Talia’s death.
