Please indulge me, dear readers, as I recite a prayer that I repeat almost daily:

 

Dear Lord, thank you for sending so many angels my way to assist in my endeavor to help as many of Your beautiful creations as I can. Through it all, help me to remain humble and to always remember all honor and glory belong to You. Should I falter, please send the Holy Spirit to guide me on the right path for without Your good graces I am nothing. I pray this in Your name dear Lord. Amen.

 

A few weeks ago I received a message from a dear friend and supporter who has a dog named Little Bear that he adopted 5 years ago. Little Bear is of undetermined age; we figure somewhere between 10 and 12 years old.

 

Little Bear had been off his food for the past few days, was bleeding from his rectum, and was in obvious pain and discomfort.  

 

“Lennie, it’s killing me to see him suffer like this,” my friend said. “I don’t know what else to do, it’s late and I don’t know if the vet will take him today to put him peacefully asleep.”

 

“Take him to Landrum Vet, I’ll call and handle everything for you, my friend, and I’m so sorry about Little Bear.”

 

Little Bear was brought to Landrum where they were waiting with instructions to do whatever they could. Little Bear was examined, given some pain meds, and other than a special diet I really couldn’t tell you what else. The fee to help Little Bear is inconsequential to my story. Little Bear turned around almost immediately—it was like a miracle, and even the vet was amazed at his quick recovery.

 

I got the message from my good friend. “I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to have a few more years with Little Bear. He’s not only better, he’s like a puppy again,” he said. 

 

“I can’t tell you how good that makes me feel, but don’t thank me my friend, thank the Lord above. Little Bear was the answer to a prayer.”
