Auditions for staged reading of Shakespeare this weekend

TRYON – Aspiring actors of all backgrounds and experience levels are invited to audition for Scenery: A Staged Reading of Comedies by William Shakespeare. Auditions will be held on Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. in Rogers Park at 55 West Howard Street in Tryon.

The performances of Scenery will be presented by the Shakespeare & Friends theater company at 7:30 p.m., June 1-4 in Rogers Park.

Scenery features eight scenes from some of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, including Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, A Comedy of Errors, and more.

The scenes will be presented as a staged reading, so actors will have scripts in hands for the performances-no line memorization required.

“Scenery is the perfect opportunity to see what Shakespeare is all about, whether this is your first time on the stage or you’re a seasoned actor wanting to have some fun with a few great plays,” said Shakespeare & Friends co-founder and director Catherine Gillet.
