The news is spreading about the relocation of Tryon History Museum and Visitor Center. The excitement is starting to build. Floor plans are being drawn and new exhibits are being designed. In case you haven’t heard this news, the museum hopes to move in the fall of 2023 into the renovated front half of the Owen’s Pharmacy building.

Jon and Shea Varner are a young couple (by Tryon standards) who own a brewery in Weaverville, north of Asheville. They bought the Owen’s building complex in 2022 and plan their second brewpub in Tryon. They will also install apartments on the top floor, expand the space at Buck’s Pizza for indoor seating, improve the space at Four Winds Florist and provide the Tryon History Museum and Visitor Center with a brand-new upgraded facility where we can “Tell Tryon’s Story.”

This will be the latest in the chain of renovated and repurposed building projects in downtown Tryon. Downtown is starting to come alive again post-Covid, with many renovation and construction projects and new businesses opening. 

The Tryon History Museum Board is excited to spread this news and to invite the community to participate in raising the funds to complete this anchor project for the museum and visitor center in downtown Tryon.
