The Tryon Cemetery Commission, in partnership with the Tryon Parks Committee, has scheduled a cemetery clean-up day for Saturday, April 29 beginning at 8 a.m. 

Volunteers are asked to bring rakes, clippers, hand saws, heavy-duty garbage bags and gloves for the special work day. The Tryon Historic Cemetery is located at 425 Markham Road across from the Garrison Chapel Baptist Church. While working with cemetery commission members volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the cemetery and plans for future improvements.

The placement of Memorial Day flags next to the Veterans’ markers is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, at 8:00 a.m. Volunteers are also welcome to walk the cemetery with members of the Cemetery Commission to place flags at the approximately 90 known Veteran burial sites.
