COLUMBUS – Are you interested in learning how to sew? The N.C. Cooperative Extension at 79 Carmel Lane in Columbus is offering an Adult Sewing Class beginning this month. 

The classes are taught by a trio of expert volunteers that have led the 4H sewing club for the last several years. In the four-week course, students will learn everything a beginner to sewing needs to know, such as how to make basic repairs and follow a sewing pattern. 

Each of the four classes will contain a mixture of advice and practical information, and will include a hands-on project that students will create themselves. Students will pick their own fabric to make a pillowcase or an apron. 

Students will also learn how to hem pants and do small repair jobs, such as patchwork. 

N.C. Cooperative Extension is part of a strategic partnership between N.C.State University and N.C. A&T State University, along with federal, state and local governments.

The sewing class will run April 28 through May 19, with classes held each Friday from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Registration for the class is $25, and students will spend approximately $20 on materials. Class space is limited. For more information, visit https://polk.ces.ncsu.edu/ or call (828) 894-8218.
