New business near the intersection N. Hwy. 9 and Hwy. 108

MILL SPRING–Crossroads Ice Cream and Coffee is the newest business to open in the Mill Spring Crossings shopping center at 82 N. Hwy 9, Suite 1, which both happen to be owned by the same person, Steven Pruette.

Pruette, a long-time general contractor, purchased Mill Spring Crossings near the intersection of N. Hwy. 9 and Hwy. 108 four years ago and opened Crossroads on March 9 in the suite that formerly housed the Ice Cream Barn. Keeping ice cream at the forefront, Pruette added a whole lot more by turning it into a full-service coffee house that is open from dawn to dusk.

“We offer everything and anything for coffee and caffeine lovers,” says Crossroads barista Hannah Raines. “We’re also always coming up with new drinks and specials for our customers they can find about on social media. For example, today’s special is a Fudge Latte.”

Crossroads offers mochas, chai, matcha, espressos, and frappes, in addition to caramel macchiatos, lattes, and cold brew. Most importantly, Crossroads offers fresh drip coffee all day long. It also sells pastries from Martha’s Amish Bakery.

Crossroads Ice Cream and Coffee has over 35 flavors of Hershey’s Ice Cream, including no sugar added and lactose-free varieties, along with milkshakes, banana splits, and hot fudge sundaes – making it the perfect stop for a hot or cold treat.

“We’ve remodeled most of the building and added a dining porch with a roof to Crossroads,” says Pruette. “We also have wi-fi and USB ports for those who need a place to work while they enjoy a cup of coffee.”

Pruette says the location is perfect for the new shop.

“I love it here in Mill Spring, and we’ve already been getting lots of support from the area and folks from Lake Lure and Chimney Rock,” he says. “We’re at one of the busiest intersections in Polk County, and we hope people will stop in when they pass through and come see us up on the hill.”

Crossroads Ice Cream and Coffee is open 6 a.m to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday with plans to expand hours in mid-May.
