Smith scored Diamond, the highest award you could score, with both her tap and contemporary dances.  She earned the 2nd highest score with her tap routine “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” and was also recognized by the judges with a special award.

Fable Barker competed in the Competitive Junior Division where she was the 4th highest-scoring soloist. She also competed in the Improv Division, placing 2nd out of 13, and was awarded $50. Improv is where the dancers aren’t prepared with music. They must dance to the music provided and choreograph on the spot. Barker also was recognized by the judges with a special award.

Other soloists competing and winning awards were: Aleigha Blackwell, who won the Platinum award, and Emilee Shehan and Sadie Vanderford with High Gold awards. The sister hip hop duo, Amyiah and Aleeyah Ferguson were also Platinum winners.

Fly Dance Competition was a great first competition to get the season started. Up next is a bigger competition in Charleston, SC. All the dancers did a great job and should have tremendous success this season.
