LANDRUM–On March 18, the Landrum High School strength team won another 2A SCHSSA Team Championship at the annual Strength Meet held at Lexington High School.

Strength and Conditioning Coach Chad Cooksey, who after nine years at Landrum will be leaving for a similar position at York High School at the end of the week, complimented his team’s resolve to bring home the 2A State title again.

“These young men have been training at Landrum since they were in the 7th grade,” Cooksey said. “Their consistent presence and hard work in the weight room is not only why they are Class AA state champions but also overall team champions, scoring more points than any classification in the state.”

The SCHSSA State Championships are set up with teams from 1A-5A competing against everyone in the state. It is scored similarly in style to wrestling, in that individuals compete by weight classes, and their scores are then added together for the total team score.
