GOLF: Yoder’s 73 drives Polk to victory at Bright’s Creek

Reilly Yoder delivered a statement victory Thursday at Bright’s Creek.

 

The Polk County senior fired a 1-over-par 73 to share medalist honors and help lead the Wolverines to a victory over three other teams in an 18-hole matchup.

Yoder shared the day’s best round with Chase’s Brock Reid. They both defeated a field that included Mitchell’s Connor Warren, the defending state 1A champion, who finished with a 75.

 

Yoder started his round with a birdie-eagle binge and played well the rest of the day to help Polk County post a team score of 330, defeating Mitchell by 13 strokes.

 

Hendersonville took third with a 344, with Landrum in fourth at 410. Chase did not field a full team.

 

Avery Harden had an 81 for the Wolverines, with Evan Jones carding an 84 and Myles Menetre a 92. Casey Beiler added a 95, with Jaden Chupp scoring a 109 and Jacob Morgan finishing with a 120.

 

Ian Wright led Hendersonville with an 81.

 

Polk County will return to the course on Monday, facing Mountain Foothills 7 Conference schools in a match at Cleghorn Golf and Sports Club.
