The exhibition features the work of nine outstanding artists from the WNC area, with thought-provoking, whimsical, and nightmarish works of art. The exhibit includes sculptures, paintings, drawings and fabric art.

Those in attendance will be served hors d’oeuvres and beverages while being treated to short talks from each artist in the show. The artist’s short lectures aim to get the viewers thinking and engaging with the work while providing insights into their creative life.

The art pieces in the exhibit represent many sides of the various artists’ personalities and emotional energy. Some pieces are personal, expressing the creator’s fears, phobias, and sense of humor. And the artists use their work to share these characteristics with style and technique.

Artists participating include local woodworker Bernard Edwards of Tryon, well known in the area for his wooden decoy ducks and animal sculptures, and painter Mark S. Holland of Tryon, who also runs the gallery and curates many of the exhibits.

The exhibit will also feature Luta Licata of Tryon known for painting with Gouache; mixed-media artist Libby Skamfer of Columbus; DJ Gaskin of Saluda and her assemblage art; the earthenware sculpture of Lake Lure’s Lisa Hager; Christopher and Whitney Jade Fairhurst Curtis of Hendersonville; and Keller Lee of Charleston.

The community is invited to attend the exhibition, which will run from March 25 to April 2. For more information, visit www.woodberrygallery.net or call 828-769-9034. The Wood Berry Gallery is located at 66 E. Main St. in Saluda.
