TRYON–On Thursday evening, Thermal Belt-Habitat of Humanity held a St. Patrick’s themed drive-thru dinner at Tryon Presbyterian Church. The dinner featured the fiddle music of Jamie Laval, food from Stone Soup and Martha’s Amish Bakery, and shamrocks provided by Avery Creek Nursery.  

The event, sponsored by Freehold Wealth Management of Landrum, sold 120 tickets for the ready-to-warm gourmet meals giving ticket-holders a choice between shepherd’s pie, chicken florentine, and a southwestern vegan meal along with chocolate cake or carrot cake. All were packaged in a specially printed reusable insulated tote to keep everything fresh.

Toni Thayer, Director of Fundraising and Grant Management, organized the event. 

“The drive-thru dinner is all about celebrating the Thermal Belt community and making our presence here known,” said Thayer. “Recently, we’ve had two ribbon cuttings, but events like this give the community a better chance to meet the Habitat staff and get to know us, learn about our programs, and for us to meet them.”

Event Coordinator Heather Rose added, “We’re very grateful for the tremendous support for the dinner from our sponsors and volunteers, especially locally. We’ve got kids here from the high school and people who came from Hendersonville and elsewhere all to help Habitat.”
