Landrum Cardinals win Steve Coley Pre-Season Tournament

The Landrum Cardinals varsity baseball team is off to a 3-2 start in 2023, including a win in the Steve Coley Pre-Season Memorial Tournament, dedicated to the Landrum coach from 1972-1996, winner of the 1975 state championship. 

 

The Cardinals opened the tournament and their season at home on February 24 with an 8-2 win over the Ware Shoals Hornets. They followed it up with a 7-2 victory over the Whitmire Wolverines on February 28, going on to wrap up the tournament title on March 2 with a 5-2 win against the Spartanburg Christian Warriors.

Landrum opened their regular season with a non-region loss to Woodruff 7-10 on the road. They lost at home versus Polk County on the Tuesday, and will be going on the road again to face Liberty on the March 10. 

 

Coach Justin Henson’s 2023 team will look to improve on their 14-11 2022 season while adjusting to being in a new Region. The Cardinal Varsity roster is made up of Titus Poore, Beckett Driggers, Jack Clark, Dylan Collins, Tye Foster, Kirby Gentry, Harper Gosnell, Sawyer Smith, Anderson Kelm, Reese Dunaway, Grady Zipperer, Noah Fortner, DJ Patterson, Blayn Silver and Nick DeCapio.
