How it happened: Polk County pushed across two runs in the first inning on Blaien Turner’s walk, base hits by Peyton Hoots and Aaron Jackson and aggressive base running.

The Wolverines added two more runs in the top of the second, loading the bases on walks to Nick Stribling and Kam Montgomery and Turner’s infield single. Bryson Hoots then lashed a two-run single to give the Wolverines a 4-0 lead.

But Landrum responded with a nine-run rally in the bottom of the second, then added four more runs in the third, to secure the victory.

At the plate: Turner, Bryson Hoots, Peyton Hoots and Jackson each had one hit for the Wolverines.

On the mound: Turner took the loss, allowing five hits and six earned runs in two-plus innings of work, with Nick Sotomayer allowing three hits and four earned runs in 1 2/3 innings. The game ended in the bottom of the fourth due to time limit.
