Polk County District Court results

In Polk County District Court on Feb. 22, 2023, with Judge Gene Johnson presiding, 103 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Ashley Nichole Bates was convicted of driving while impaired. Bates was sentenced to a maximum of 30 days in jail suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation, and 24 hours of community service.
Cody Edward Church was convicted of driving without a license. Church was sentenced to one day in jail with time served.
Michael R. Farr was convicted of larceny. Farr was sentenced to 15 days in jail, 12 months of unsupervised probation, and was ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution to Adam Nobles.
Kaia Savannah Fryling was convicted of felony possession of a schedule 1 substance. Fryling was sentenced to 12 months of supervised probation, 48 hours of community service, and must complete a substance abuse assessment.
Dustin Lucas McDowell was convicted of second-degree trespassing and misdemeanor larceny. McDowell was sentenced to 45 days in jail suspended for 24 months of supervised probation, ordered to obtain a mental health evaluation, and ordered to stay off the property of, and have no contact with, Linda Gaffney or Marsha Greene.
Talon Sky Screamer was convicted of attempted larceny. Screamer was sentenced to 6 to 17 months in jail, suspended for 24 months of supervised probation, and ordered to complete a program at Carolina Recovery Solutions.
Kellie Sam Smith was convicted of possession of a schedule 2 substance with intent to distribute. Smith was sentenced to 5 to 15 months in jail, suspended for 12 months of supervised probation, and must comply with a substance abuse assessment.
