Brumley’s goal was to be the best educator that she could possibly be, and she knew that she could only achieve this by continually educating herself. During her career, Brumley attended several state and national education conferences and earned her master’s degree and National Board Certification. She donated her time and money to these endeavors but was also the beneficiary of various grants and awards that helped her reach her goals.

The Brumley Educational Grant provides up to $1,000 each year to educators who also share Brumley’s goal of “being the best educator you can possibly be.” Benson plans to use this year’s grant to attend the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, the largest and most prestigious conference for music educators in the United States, in December.

Polk County Schools offers a special thanks to the family of Janice Anderson Brumley for establishing this fund for Polk County educators.
