COLUMBUS–On Saturday, February 25, Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity will host their first in-person Home Dedication in over two years to celebrate the Price family moving into a home they helped to build with their very own hands.

The Habitat home in Columbus was brought to life by numerous volunteers and donors. Each year Habitat, alongside volunteers and donors, witnesses the transformative power of homeownership as partner families receive the keys to their new, affordable homes.

Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity works to eliminate barriers to a better, healthier, more financially stable life. Future homeowners who earn below 80% of the area median income, demonstrate a need, the ability to pay, and a willingness to partner qualify for a Habitat home. Partnership with Habitat includes contributing at least 300 hours in “sweat equity,” saving for closing costs, and completing homebuyer educational courses.

“Habitat’s job is made easier when working with wonderful families like the Prices,” said Linda Saturno, President and CEO of Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity. “We know children of homeowners compared to children of renters are 116% more likely to graduate from college and are 59% more likely to own a home within 10 years of moving from their parent’s home. Homeownership also results in a better quality of life and the equity in the home creates generational wealth, which is why Habitat works so diligently to help families achieve home ownership.”

Thermal Belt Habitat invites you to explore volunteer opportunities and home sponsorship @thermalbelthabitat.org. Habitat is now accepting applications starting March 1. For information on Home Ownership, please visit thermalbelthabitat.org/home-ownership/.
