Goodheart Books closed when owner Harry Goodheart passed away last year. Goodheart, a well-known and respected staple in Tryon, supported Polk County through his bookstore for many years. He left the bookstore and all of its contents to Lanier Library. The library thoughtfully and thoroughly handled the items in the store, until only the building and a few of the shop’s bookcases were left.

After purchasing the building, Geddings donated the remaining bookcases to the teachers of Polk County Middle School.

“Teachers now have these sturdy, beautiful bookcases to store their materials and help organize their classrooms, facilitating teaching and learning,” said Amy Ballentine. “Geddings now has a long-standing landmark to house his office, perfectly positioning him to help the community.”

There are currently no plans for any other business to move into the Edward Jones office in Columbus Commons.
