The $2.54 million, 7,500 sq. ft. state-of-the-art childcare center will offer Early Head Start programs to generations of Polk County children and families. Located on the campus of Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry, WNCSource’s new childcare center will serve pregnant women, infants and toddlers under age 3.

“Our previous childcare center experienced two separate flood events in 2020 before it finally closed. It has taken a while to find the right location and raise the funds needed to build a new center,” said Development Director Terri Bowman. “WNCSource is excited to begin construction on this much-needed resource for Polk County children and families!”

Construction of the new early childcare center is expected to be completed by February 2024. Once all of the inspections and childcare licensing are complete, WNCSource expects to welcome families in June 2024.

WNCSource works with communities and partners to improve people’s lives by creating pathways to self-reliance and healthier living.

The campus of Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry is located at 134 White Dr., in Columbus.
