Juvenile Crime Prevention Council requesting proposals for programs

The Polk County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) has studied the risk factors and needs of Juvenile Court involved youth in the county and is requesting proposals.

 

The JCPC anticipates funds from the NC Department of Public Safety, Division of Adult Corrections and Juvenile Justice, Juvenile Community Programs section in the amount of $83,404 to fund programs that will serve delinquent and at-risk youth for the state fiscal year 2023-2024 beginning on, or after, July 1, 2023.

The use of these funds in the county requires a local match of 20%. Any public or private nonprofit agency may apply for these funds. The county can approve programs for one or two-year funding awards, dependent on county approval and programs meeting all requirements.

 

The program types specified are as follows: Parent/Family Skill Building, Interpersonal Skill Building, Tutoring/Academic, Mediation/Conflict Resolution, Restitution/Community Service, Teen Court, Psychological Assessments, Home Based Family Counseling, Individual/Group/Mixed Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, Temporary Shelter Care, and Juvenile Structured Day.

 

Programs should address the following concerns as reported in the Needs Assessments for Adjudicated Youth, which include: Peer Relationships, Substance Abuse, Mental Health Needs, Family Issues and School Behavior Issues.

 

Applicants should be able to address the following items:

 

  • Program services compatible with research that are shown to be effective with juvenile offenders;
  • Program services that are outcome-based;
  • Program with an evaluation component;
  • Program services detect gang participation and divert individual(s) from gang participation; and
  • Programs that can have a demonstrable impact on the following success factors: reduce the use of alcohol or controlled substances; reduce subsequent complaints; reduce violation of terms of community supervision; reduce convictions from subsequent offenses; fulfill restitution to victims; and increase parental accountability.
  • Local public agencies, 501(c) (3) non-profit corporations and local housing authorities are invited to submit applications (Program Agreements) for programs addressing the above elements. The deadline for applications is 5 P.M. on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023.

 

In order to apply for the fiscal year 2023-2024 JCPC funding, candidates must complete and submit their application online by accessing NC ALLIES.

Private nonprofits are also required to submit No Over Due Tax forms, Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statements, proof of 501(c) (3) status and Board of Directors List.
