For nearly 100 area senior citizens, Christmas festivities lasted well into January. The festivities were purposely and meticulously planned that way, to avoid all the regular hustle and bustle that the season may bring.

The Unity in the Community Organization recently held its 8th Annual Sharing in the Community Senior Citizen Christmas Social. The project was made possible by a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation.

The evening included live music, free gifts to all attendees, and delicious catering prepared by A Taste of Pea Ridge.

A very inspirational address was given by Rev. Eleanor Miller, and the very talented Rahjay Hines and Wanda Staley performed songs for the senior citizens. A fun and games segment with group participation resulted in laughter throughout the Banquet Hall.

The event was successful in bringing a little cheer to our local senior citizens.
