PCVC 16U squad takes third in Knoxville tournament

Polk County Volleyball Club’s 16U squad earned third place Sunday at the K2 Wilderness Clash in Knoxville.

 

PCVC Shawn finished 5-1 for the weekend against a 20-team field in the 16 Club bracket.

The team’s only loss came in a tough three-set match against A5 Gwinnett Volleyball Club’s 16-JT National, a 21-25, 25-15, 15-9 decision in the tournament semifinals. The Gwinnett squad from Suwanee, Ga. went on to win the final and tourney.

 

PCVC swept through Saturday’s bracket play, going 4-0 and dropping just one set. Following Sunday’s loss to Gwinnett, the team came back to record a 25-20, 25-18 victory over Kentucky-based LCE Volleyball Club in the third-place match.

 

PCVC Shawn team members include Hayden Blackwell, Reeve Carroll, Kylie Lewis, Junie Mitchell, Beija Olivari, Aslyn Scruggs and Charley Dusenbury.
