Wolverine offense explodes in 41-point win at Chase

Polk County found victory much easier to achieve on Thursday.

Two nights after a dramatic win over Brevard, the Wolverines went on the road and cruised to a 70-29 Mountain Foothills 7 Conference girls basketball win at Chase.

Polk improved to 9-7 overall, 4-2 in league play. Chase dropped to 3-13, 1-5.

How it happened: Polk wasted no time in taking command of the game. Mia Bradley and Bailey Staton teamed for 16 points in the first quarter as the Wolverines opened a 23-5 advantage.

Polk continued to pull away in the second quarter, extending the margin to 46-12 by halftime en route to its second straight win.

The game marked the first time a Polk team reached 70 points since Dec. 16, 2019, when the Wolverines claimed a 71-22 win, also at Chase.

Scoring: Staton led Polk County with 24 points, with Bradley hitting three 3-pointers as part of her 19-point effort. Kylie Lewis added 10 points.

Jayden Duncan had seven points, with Sarah Gray scoring five. Gavionna Carson and Kayleigh Wilson each had two points and Brianna Gray added one.
