In Polk County alone, 12% of the overall population and 15% of children suffer from food insecurity. Share Thy Bread, the food ministry of the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church, provides nutritious meals and fresh local produce to Polk County community members who need help. We are pleased to announce that thanks to support from Dogwood Health Trust, our region has received a tremendous boost.

“This grant from Dogwood Health Trust will make it possible to provide several months’ worth of food to our neighbors in need,” says Pastor Bob Grant, Chairman of the Board for Share Thy Bread. “We are grateful for Dogwood’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of people in Western North Carolina and we are glad to have this opportunity to partner with them in serving our community.”

Share Thy Bread is a food pantry and outreach ministry that serves families in need throughout Polk County. It is staffed entirely by volunteers and is a ministry of the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church. The church partners with MANNA FoodBank, Food Lion, Bojangles, and Dollar General, as well as local farmers and other community organizations. This grant will make it possible to provide clients with nutritious meals and fresh produce. Clients can come from surrounding counties as well and the ministry also delivers to homes and organizations within Polk County. It is the goal of Share Thy Bread and the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church to make a difference in people’s lives and to impact them now and for eternity.
