TRYON–Foothills Movement, a new fully equipped Pilates studio in downtown Tryon, will be holding its grand opening on Saturday, January 7. An open house with wine and appetizers will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the new studio, located at 70 Pacolet St. Foothills Movement is owned and operated by Fanina Padykula.

Padyluka has sixteen years of experience as a pilates instructor and is excited to share her love of helping people move and feel better in the area. The new studio has several instructors specializing in various low-impact exercises, including yoga, Pilates, barre, and belly dancing. Padykula, who was Miss Belly Dancer USA 2011, calls belly dancing one of her passions.

Foothills Movement is equipped with a complete set of Reformer Machines, which use spring resistance to add support, or more of a challenge, to exercises. The studio also has a beautiful view of the mountains.

“All of our courses are about connecting mind, body, breath, and movement,” Padykula explains. “Yoga has more prominent movements and a spiritual side, while pilates was created by Joe Pilates and concentrates on smaller movements and more on the core. We also offer barre and, of course, belly dancing on Tuesday nights.”

Foothills Movement will offer group classes starting December 31, with classes designed to fit both the beginner and experienced. The studio also offers private and duet sessions focused on alignment, balance, and flow.

“We moved to Tryon from Portland, Ore. to get more sunshine and be closer to family. Since we arrived, we have loved the community and found it to be a welcoming place,” Padyluka says. “Foothills Movement is also a welcoming place for those looking for something different than the gym.”
