Tryon– Charles Peter Williams (Peter) passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022, in Tryon, NC. He was born May 5, 1956, in Greensboro, NC to Wilda Schaumann Williams and Karl Avery Williams.

Peter grew up in Charlotte where he attended Charlotte Country Day School. A superlative athlete, he was a quarterback and linebacker for the football team and played varsity basketball and baseball. He attended NC State and studied engineering. After college, he started a construction business building several houses on Myers Park Drive, including one for his brother Scot and his wife, Nan, and a house just purchased by his nephew. He loved framing houses and working outdoors. Later he worked with his Dad in a chemical import business in Greenville, SC.

His childhood summers at his grandmother’s house on the New Jersey shore commenced a lifelong love of the beach and fishing. His family has happy memories of good times with him on the South Carolina coast.

Peter was a good soul—warm and loving. He knew his family was always there for him and he made sure we knew how much he cared for us. He leaves behind sisters Jill (Bill) Lucas, and Nicki Williams, and his brother Scot (Nan) Williams, as well as his Aunt Jannie, and a host of nephews, a niece, cousins, grandnephews, and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
