Polk County’s Senior Services division, which is also known as The Meeting Place, is accepting donations for its Christmas Cheer on Wheels event.

 

Shoe boxes will be filled with a variety of items and then dispersed to those in need in Polk County.

 

Donations for Christmas Cheer on Wheels will be accepted through 3 p.m. on December 16 at The Meeting Place, which is located at 75 Carmel Lane in Columbus.

 

If you’re interested in donating, officials at The Meeting Place have set a weekly schedule for specific items to be collected. 

 

From Nov. 28 to Dec. 2, packs of hot chocolate mix and small mugs are being accepted, and from Dec. 5 to Dec. 9, they will be accepting unisex miscellaneous items (such as playing cards, small games, candy canes, etc.).

If you would like to fill your own shoebox, find an empty shoebox and wrap the top and bottom separately. Then, fill it with new unopened gifts, such as snacks, washcloths, socks and gloves, lotion, coffee mugs or knick-knacks. The shoebox can then be dropped off at The Meeting Place in Columbus.
