Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Landrum– William Shelton “Bert” Taylor, 68, of Landrum passed away on October 23, 2022. He was the son of the late Bennie Taylor and Sallie Grant Greer.  He was a dedicated and loving husband of the late Karen N. Taylor. He was a loving father to his surviving daughter Trinity Simone Meyers. He was the loving brother to a surviving sister, Tammy Taylor Parks. He is predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer Leigh Taylor.

Shelton had a laugh that was authentic and infectious; you are blessed if you got to hear it. His sunny disposition encouraged others to “keep things light” and always cracked a joke and winked an eye even when things became heavy. He believed working hard and working with his hands provided an outlet for his creativity. He worked night shift at Butte Knit Mill while finishing his senior year at Landrum High School. He worked for Tietex International for over 30 years in the Maintenance Department, focusing on forklifts and tinkering on other machinery and objects as needed before he retired. Even in retirement, he went back to work for 2 years at J & J Forklift, because he loved to work and even more, he loved “shop” camaraderie. He gained many friends along the way and cherished those that kept in touch regularly. He worked hard to provide for his family, for which he loved so much. “If you knew Bert, his wife Karen and daughter Simone were the center of his world and the center of almost every conversation.” He had a passion for saltwater fish and music of all genres. When he played music (a lover of guitars), or listened to a song,  he wanted to understand the “message” behind it.

Shelton is survived by a daughter, Trinity Simone Meyers (Eric).  A sister Tammy Parks (Larry). Extended family, he is survived by 4 sister-in-loves, Cookie Connor (Glenn), Gwen Wood (Steve), Leesa Rivas (Jess), Becky Neves (Gene), and a brother-in-love Dane Neves (Pam). 7 nephews Neil Parks, Patrick Connor, Jason Rivas, Jonathan Rivas, David Rivas, Shane Wood, Casey Wood. 5 nieces Lauren Rivas, Jill Connor, Madison Neves, Santana Neves, Kayla Neves. He is loved and surrounded by so much family and touched so many others’ hearts and lives, and he will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Petty Funeral Home, followed by Funeral Service led by Rev. Jimmy “Hambone” Camp at 2:00 p.m. He will be buried beside his late wife Karen and daughter Jennifer at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Landrum, SC.
