In early September, the latest addition to the Tryon International Equestrian Center, Stacy Bradley Design, owned by Katherine Kurz, set up shop at Cabin 14B on the retail row by the Silo Bar. 

 

The cabin-sized boutique specializes in several unique brands that create one-of-a-kind and handcrafted fashions to provide an elegant look for the equestrian lifestyle and life in general. Since the TIEC opened, it has brought in new and exciting vendors of all varieties, most notably in food and fashion, and Katherine’s boutique certainly stands out. 

 

Katherine, who started her career in the barns, has worked her way up through the equestrian competition scene, having moved to Tryon from Florida in recent years with her husband, and it’s clear they’ve gotten right to work.

 

The eye-catching shop is named for Designed by Stacy Bradley, a company whose founder, much like Katherine, started her career working in the barn and at equestrian competitions across the country. Now, Stacy’s products are in boutiques across the nation. The store at TIEC offers an assortment of products, but what really stands out are the designer denim jackets, which have  hemmed sleeves and hand-selected fabrics affixed to the back.

 

Katherine adds, “We’ve got all the great textiles, cozy cashmere, plus bags, handmade belts, and buckles. Stacy Bradley has an amazing array of products, and I’m proud to have her name on my business.”

The boutique’s other cornerstone products are the Kenyan Belts, handmade in Kenya by the area’s women to help support their families. Their handcrafted leather belts are meticulously handsewn in various eclectic and colorful patterns.Also available are products by Kingsley Custom Boots out of Portugal, a company filled with highly skilled cobblers that use technology and old-world skill to make their clients perfect custom-riding boots. 

Katherine wryly describes her journey by saying, “I started in the barn mucking stalls, and I didn’t go to college. I went to work. So now, I’m lucky enough to work in a place and industry I truly enjoy selling unique products I believe in where no two are alike.”
