Polk County Parks and Rec to hold public meeting to renew Gibson Park

Community invited to share ideas on Master Plan, playground

 

COLUMBUS––On Tuesday, October 25, a public meeting will be held from 4-6 p.m. at Stearns Gym regarding Gibson Park in Columbus. The meeting will be held by Polk County Parks, Recreation and Maintenance.

Polk County Parks and Rec invites the community to join the meeting and express thoughts on projects involving Gibson Park playground and the Gibson Park Master Plan.

From 4 to 5 p.m., the department will discuss projects including ADA accessible aspects of Gibson Park, as well as picnic shelters, and sidewalk and shade structures.

From 5 to 6 p.m., the department will invite community members to express their thoughts on what improvements they would like to see at the park to help renew it.

Gibson Park includes a playground, the county’s only public pool, and a ballfield. The playground is currently slated for replacement. If you would like to attend the public meeting and share ideas on improvements, join Polk County Parks, Recreation and Maintenance on Tuesday, October 25 at Stearns Gym.
