FOREST CITY – William “Mike” Michael Smith, 47, of Forest City passed away, Friday, October 7, 2022, at his home following a long illness.

Born in Charlotte, he was the son of Ricky “Pops” Hines and Jennifer Jackson Hines of Campobello. He was a 1993 graduate of Polk County High School and went on to work for CMC in Wellford for the past 11 years. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, camping, and motorcycles and was referred to as “Fat Boy”. When away from work he enjoyed working on family and friends’ automobiles.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 12 years Nicki Searcy Smith; one son, Will Smith of Forest City; three daughters, Whitney Smith, Maranda Gosnell, and Makayla Gosnell all of Forest City; one stepbrother, Giften Hines (Marshal) of Spartanburg.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, October 12, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
