The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association played a “Best Ball of 4” format on September 26, along with closest-to-the-pin contests on both par 3s. There were 6 teams participating, and the winners were as follows:

 

1st place – John Schickling, Mike Axelrod, Ken Shull, Charles McKeller – 29

 

2nd place – Brad Rakow, Roger Dehnel, Ed Weatherby, Donnie Carruth – 30

 

3rd place – Bill Basye, Jim Shirley, Dave Gunter, John Lyons – 30

The Tryon Country Club Women’s Golf Association played a Captain’s Choice format on September 27, plus they had a Closest-to-the-pin contest on hole #3. The cool weather was refreshing and it showed in the scoring as 3 teams tied for first place with 41s. The final results are listed below:

 

1st place – Kathy Clark, Diane Torres, Becky Kennedy, Nancy Hiley – 41

 

2nd place – Joyce Arledge, Lib McKeller, Jo Ann Silvia, Stephanie Demeranville – 41
