Arrowood started as a patrol officer in Tryon in 1993 and was named acting Police Chief in December of 2002. He officially became Police Chief in March of the following year.

Over the span of his career, Chief Arrowood has made a huge impact both at Tryon Police Department and within the Polk County community.

“Tryon’s been great to me, and great to my family,” Arrowood said Tuesday. “I’ve always had really good councils, really good managers. It’s been a great career.”

“This town is phenomenal. It’s been an honor to serve it.”

Arrowood’s work with Trevor’s Gift, a nonprofit charity named for his son Officer Trevor Arrowood who passed away from cancer in 2021, endows scholarships to Western Carolina University students interested in majoring in Criminal Justice.

“After retirement, I intend to focus on this charity a lot more,” says Arrowood.

This Friday, September 30, at the Harmon Field Log Cabin, the general public is invited to a retirement celebration for Chief Arrowood. The celebration will last from 1 to 3 p.m., and refreshments will be served. The event makes for a wonderful opportunity to thank Chief Arrowood for his three decades of service.
