Polk County Middle’s one-two rushing punch of Zach McCraw and Styler Blackwell proved too much Thursday for Apple Valley to handle, with the duo leading the Wolverines to a 30-14 victory in Hendersonville.

Polk Middle improved to 3-0 with the Blue Ridge Conference win. Apple Valley dropped to 1-2.

Blackwell scored all four Wolverine touchdowns, most set up on long runs by McCraw. Blackwell had a 3-yard score on Polk’s first drive, then added a 4-yard run in the second quarter after recovering an Apple Valley fumble at the Knights’ 22.

Sawyer Huff added 2-point conversions following both scores as Polk led 16-0 at the half.

Blackwell added a 3-yard touchdown run in the third period, with Huff again racing in for the 2-point conversion, for a 24-0 advantage. Apple Valley cut the margin to 24-6 before Blackwell’s final score, an 8-yard run in the fourth period.

Polk Middle continues its road swing on Thursday, traveling to Flat Rock for a 5 p.m. kickoff against the Eagles.
