Learn about Forest Management from the SC Forestry Commission

Join Conserving Carolina and the Landrum Library for a free lecture entitled, “Forestry Best Management Practices and Managing Forests with Fire,” presented by Jon Barker and Clay Howard of the SC Forestry Commission. The program will be held on Thursday, September 22 at 6 p.m. at the Landrum Library, located at  111 East Asbury Drive in Landrum. 

Come learn about Forestry Best Management Practices (BMPs) and Managing Forests with Fire from the South Carolina Forestry Commission. Jon Barker, Piedmont BMP Forester, will discuss Forestry BMPs and how to avoid non-point source pollution. Clay Howard, Fire Management Officer (FMO), will discuss how people play a role in good fire and bad fire.

Jon Barker is the Piedmont BMP Forester. Jon has worked with the Forestry Commission since 2008 serving as the Project Forester/FMO in Spartanburg County. In that role, he assisted landowners with their forest management needs, supervised a forest fire suppression team, and performed law enforcement duties for forest fire law. Clay Howard is the current FMO for the Spartanburg/Union Sector.
