Bring the kids and the camera for free family fun at The Mane Event, a morning of pony rides, face painting, exhibitions and competitions. Sponsored by Tryon Riding and Hunt Club (TH&HC), The Mane Event will be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, on the equestrian side of Tryon’s Harmon Field.

At The Mane Event, families can enjoy pumpkin painting, hobby horse games and a petting zoo. In addition, food and ice cream trucks will also be available. Beginning at noon, special performances include a magic show and an exhibition of freestyle dressage or ballet on horseback with 2 horse and riders moving gracefully through athleticism and communication.

“This is the second year the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club offered fun, horse-related activities to bring our community together for a good time and a good cause,” TR&HC Executive Director Leigh Borreson said.

“There is no admission charge, but we do ask for a donation of canned food to be distributed to Thermal Belt Outreach and the Pop Up Pantry,” Borreson said.  Last year, more than 1,200 pounds of food were donated to local food pantries.

“Activities like The Mane Event are consistent with the Club’s mission to support philanthropy and community activities,” TH&HC President Angie Millon said.  “We’re excited to be doing something fun, entertaining and horse-related for area residents. We hope the whole family will come out to play!”
