Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Tryon Concert Association once again presents an outstanding lineup of world-class subscription concerts in its 2022-2023 season. This year there is a special performance by The Raleigh Ringers that will take place at the Polk County High School on Sunday, November 13, at 3:00 p.m. All subscription concerts will be held at Tryon Fine Arts Center at 7:30 in the evening.

Heading off the series is Conrad Tao, a distinguished young pianist who made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2019 and has since performed at important venues around the world. Mr. Tao will perform on October 4, in a program that is wide-ranging and includes an improvisation. He is described as possessing “technical elan” as well as “a hefty dash of charm” (Baltimore Sun).

Internationally acclaimed handbell choir, The Raleigh Ringers has been impressing audiences with music ranging from sacred to rock. With over 400 instruments on the stage, Raleigh Ringers gives a stunning performance, one that surprises and elates audiences. Our State magazine named them “Lords of the Ring.”

Geneva Lewis, a talented young violinist originally from New Zealand, will perform on January 24. Winner of the coveted 2022 Borlotti-Buitoni Trust award, Ms. Lewis has been called “clearly one to watch” by Musical America. Her innovative program will include modern compositions as well as classics.

The Bennewitz Quartet is composed of four Czech string players, noted for playing with insight and passion. Named for Antonin Bennewitz, who is credited with establishing the Czech school of violin, the ensemble has collected awards and accolades as they have performed in Europe and the Americas to great acclaim. Their concert will take place on March 21.

Rounding out the subscription series is the American Brass Quintet, dubbed the “high priests of brass” by Newsweek. They will perform on May 4 in what promises to be a rousing and exuberant concert. These musicians have devoted themselves to works written solely for brass ensemble, including commissioned pieces by William Bolcom and others.

Jason DeCristofaro and Friends will give the TGIF concert on February 17 at 6:00 in the evening. This more informal presentation, intended to start the weekend on a cheerful note, will feature percussion and other instruments in the jazz style. Mr. DeCristofaro is a favorite among TCA concert-goers, and his performance will be exciting and enjoyable.
