GREEN CREEK––On August 14, Green Creek Fire Rescue received their new Engine 26. According to Deputy Chief Jim Torongeau, Engine 26, a 2022 Four Guys Rescue/Pumper made in Pennsylvania, is replacing an older truck.

Green Creek Fire Rescue will be expanding to a new fire station soon and is expanding its equipment. Currently, Station 3 is under construction on Pea Ridge Road and is scheduled for completion in 2022.

“It’s a rescue engine, so it has capabilities of a rescue truck and an engine––extrication, water rescue, high angle rescue all in one truck,” Deputy Chief Jim Torongeau says.

Green Creek Fire Rescue was organized in 1964 as a Volunteer Fire Department, with the support of the Ruritan Club. Its first station was located at the Green Creek School. Its headquarters on Hwy. 9 and Station 2 on Chesnee Highway will remain in operation as Green Creek Fire Rescue expands into the new Station 3 sometime before November.

GCFR has three other engines and an ambulance in its fleet. In 2015, it met the needed certifications to gain an ISO Rating of 6/9E. The ISO Rating would later be lowered to a 5/9E in 2021. These improved ISO Ratings greatly benefit the insurance premiums of Green Creek residents.
