Tales of Early Tryon: The Governor, the Indians, the Hunters, and the Plantations

The Tryon History Museum is pleased to present the next Tales of Tryon on August 25 at 5 p.m. at the Holy Cross Parish Hall. Dr. Milton Ready who is well-known in Polk County will be our speaker.  

Attendees can look forward to learning more about just who Governor William Tryon was, as well as the Indians of the region, and the early settlers and settlements of the Carolina backcountry.  The presentation will start promptly at five and there will be time for questions and answers as well as book signings.

Dr. Milton Ready, emeritus professor of history, University of North Carolina, Asheville, is a widely acclaimed author, speaker, and teacher, and former resident of Tryon.  His writings include histories of North Carolina, Georgia, and the city of Asheville, as well as North Carolina short stories, and tales of crime.
