Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church has received $10,000 from the Pisgah Health Foundation to help feed local neighbors in their time of need. The gift made it possible for the church’s food ministry, Share Thy Bread, to purchase food from MANNA FoodBank in Asheville and local farms for Polk County residents in need and to get the word out to underserved populations about its services.

 

Chairman of the Board for Share Thy Bread, Pastor Bob Grant, says, “This generous contribution from the Pisgah Health Foundation will help our food pantry feed hundreds of people in Polk County and surrounding counties in the coming months. We would like to thank the Foundation for this grant and their support of like organizations for reaching out to so many people in need. It makes a tremendous difference to people who would not otherwise be able to put healthy options on their tables.”

 

Share Thy Bread is a food outreach ministry that provides food to families in need in Polk County and surrounding counties. It is staffed entirely by volunteers and is a ministry of the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church. The church partners with MANNA FoodBank in Asheville and can purchase food at very low prices to distribute to those in need. This grant makes it possible to purchase several months’ worth of food for clients and also includes funding for marketing to underserved communities. It is the goal of Share Thy Bread and the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church to make a difference in people’s lives and to impact them now and for eternity.
