CBL Charitable Foundation awards $30,000 in Higher Education Scholarships to local students

CBL Charitable Foundation has awarded $10,000 higher education scholarships to three local students to be applied to the 2022 – 2023 school year.

 

Landrum High School senior Eliza Whiteside is receiving the Citizens Building and Loan Charitable Foundation Scholarship. Eliza will be attending the University of South Carolina Upstate in the fall majoring in Exercise Science. Her goal is to some day work in pediatrics as a physical therapist.

Eliza graduated as an honors student and member of the Beta Club and excelled as a student athlete for the Landrum High golf team. 

 

“I have been playing golf since 7th grade and will now I will get to continue playing at USC Upstate while pursuing my degree. I am so excited that CBL selected me as this year’s recipient,” she says.

 

Greer High School senior Lucy Sales–Ramos is receiving the Robert F. Williams Scholarship, and is planning to attend Furman University where she will pursue a degree in education. 

 

“I’m very thankful to CBL for this scholarship. I plan to study education and stay close to family. I am very family oriented and enjoy being part of my local church,” says Lucy.

 

Blue Ridge High School senior Maggie Poole is receiving the Citizens Building and Loan Charitable Foundation Scholarship. Maggie is attending Anderson University where she will pursue a degree in Kinesiology and Physical Therapy with the dream of completing her doctorate degree.

Investing in the leaders of the next generation begins right in our own hometown, and these seniors have already been leading by example. We want to wish them great success, ” says Jennifer T. Jones, President & CEO of CBL.

 

The CBL Charitable Foundation Higher Education Scholarships target deserving students graduating in the Landrumand Greater Greer area. Scholarship money is sent directly to the winner’s institution of choice to help offset tuition costs. Students interested in applying will find the application information with their school guidance counselor. Applications are due by March 31 of applicants’ senior year.
