A familiar face is returning to Polk County Schools to help oversee testing and student data.

Adrian Hammond, a Polk County High School graduate and former teacher at Polk Central Elementary, is returning to the district as its Accountability Coordinator, a new position created by the pending retirement of Assistant Superintendent David Scherping. The Polk County Board of Education approved Hammond’s hiring at its monthly meeting on Monday at Stearns Education Center.

Currently an instructional coach at Hendrix Elementary School in Boiling Springs, Hammond brings almost 20 years of experience to her role with Polk County Schools. She began her teaching career at Polk Central in 2004 before moving to Boiling Springs Intermediate in 2007. She has been in her current position since 2016.

“Returning to my roots is exciting and I can’t wait to support the incredible work being accomplished by educators in Polk County.”

In her new position, Hammond will have responsibility for state and federal testing and other assessments, district online learning plastforms and student data platforms such as PowerSchool and NCEdCloud.

“Polk County Schools is excited to welcome Adrian Hammond back to the Polk Schools family as Accountability Coordinator,” said Polk County Schools Superintendent Aaron Greene. “A former Polk County High School graduate and teacher at Polk Central Elementary, Ms. Hammond brings with her school and district leadership experience and a strong knowledge of teaching and learning.
