The Foundation for St. Luke’s Hospital recently hosted their first Men’s Health Tune-Up Event at Harmon Field that featured a Car, Truck and Bike Show plus a St. Luke’s Men’s Health Fair. This free community event was made possible by the Ann Jacobs Tom Fund at the Polk County Community Foundation.

Over 100 community members attended the free Health Fair where they received education on a variety of important health and wellness topics such as stroke and heart attack symptom recognition, cardiac disease prevention, mental health awareness, hands-only CPR, nutrition, cancer prevention, recommended vaccines, ways to manage chronic pain without narcotics, and body mechanics. PSA tests to check for prostate cancer, skin cancer screenings, and blood pressure checks were provided at no charge to participants. 

The Foundation thanks St. Luke’s providers and staff, Polk County Health Department, Polk County EMS, and state agencies for being a part of this great event. Attendees received a free T-shirt and were entered to win one of the many door prizes. The Foundation also wishes to thank the following community businesses for donating door prizes: Advance Auto, Beneficial Foods Organic Grocery, Carolina Chiropractic Plus, Carquest Auto Parts, Columbus Service Center, Durand’s Auto Detail, Food Lion, Green River Cycles, Mill Spring Farm Store, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Pierce Tire and Service Center, Spinx, and Tractor Supply,

From classics to new, there were 57 vehicles registered in the Car, Truck, and Bike show. The community enjoyed getting to view the wonderful selection and then voted for their personal favorites in each category.
