Saluda – Sheila Emory Russell of the Mountain Page Community of Saluda, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, June 30, 2022, at her home.
A native and lifelong resident of Saluda, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Nell Revis Emory. Sheila retired from Saluda Mountain Phone Company after more than 20 years of service and she became to be known as “Ma Bell”. During her life, she was very active in various churches and Saluda Fire & Rescue Auxiliary. She was a member of Faith Temple Baptist Church in Mill Spring.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Russell. Surviving is her husband of 65 years, William Horace Russell; three sons, Jeff Russell, and Darryl Russell both of Saluda, and David Russell of Hendersonville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are three daughters that Sheila and Horace raised as their own.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2022, in Old Mountain Page Cemetery, Old Mountain Page Road, Saluda, NC with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.
A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held on July 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Temple Baptist Church in Mill Spring. All are welcome to come and bring a covered dish.
